Creating a system restore point in Windows Server helps protect your system from unexpected issues by allowing you to revert to a stable state.
1. Open System Properties
- Right-click on This PC and select Properties.
- Click on System Protection on the left-hand side of the window.
2. Enable System Protection
- In the System Properties window, go to the System Protection tab.
- Select the C: Drive (or your main system drive) and click Configure.
- Ensure that Turn on system protection is selected.
- Adjust the Max Usage slider to allocate disk space for restore points (recommended: 5-10%).
- Click OK to enable system protection.
3. Create a Restore Point
- In the System Protection tab, click the Create button.
- Enter a descriptive name for the restore point (e.g., Before Installing Updates).
- Click Create to start the process.
- Wait for the confirmation message that the restore point has been created successfully.
4. Verify the Restore Point
- After creating the restore point, click System Restore in the System Properties window.
- The restore point you just created should appear in the list of available restore points.
- (Optional) Select it and click Next to proceed with restoring the system if needed.
Success! You have now created a system restore point in Windows Server. If any issues arise, you can roll back to this stable state.
