How to Add a Debit Card to PayPal

Adding a debit card to your PayPal account enables seamless payments and ensures you always have a valid funding source for your transactions.

Follow the steps below to add a debit card to your PayPal account.


1. Log in to Your PayPal Account

Use your login credentials to access your PayPal account.





2. Navigate to the "Wallet" Page

On the PayPal dashboard, click on the Wallet tab in the top menu bar. This section shows your linked payment methods.

3. Click "Link a Card"

Under the Payment Methods section, select the Link a Card option to add a new credit or debit card.

4. Enter Your Card Details

Provide the necessary card information, including:

  • Card Number: Enter the 16-digit number on your debit card.
  • Expiry Date: Specify the card's expiration date (MM/YY).
  • CVV Code: Input the three-digit security code found on the back of your card.

5. Verify Your Billing Address

Ensure that the billing address matches the address associated with your debit card.

6. Confirm and Save

Click Save to link the card to your PayPal account. PayPal may verify the card by charging a small refundable amount.

7. Optional: Set Your New Card as the Default Payment Method

To make the newly added card your primary payment method:

  • Go to the Wallet section.
  • Click on the card you want to set as default.
  • Select Make this my preferred payment method.

Tips and Notes

  • You can link multiple debit cards to your PayPal account and choose which one to use for specific transactions.
  • Ensure your card has online payment capabilities enabled.
  • If you encounter issues adding a card, contact your card issuer to confirm there are no restrictions.
